Overview

These standalone dBI ODBC Drivers should be acquired by users who are using an application built using dBASE PLUS and the application was designed to use one or more of these drivers and they want to install the application on a workstation that does not have dBASE PLUS installed on it.

For example, if you have an application designed to use one or more of these ODBC drivers and you want to deploy it to one or more client workstations or to a shared network drive accessed by one or more users, each user will need a license for these drivers.

Note that a dBASE PLUS application will also require the dBASE PLUS Runtime engine to be installed either on the client workstations or the shared network drive.

Features

This bundle of branded Data-Direct ODBC drivers makes it easier to connect to:

    Oracle
    SQL Server
    Sybase ASE
    DB2
    Informix
    FoxPro
    Visual FoxPro
    Clipper
    Pervasive SQL (formerly Btrieve)
The Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase ASE, DB2 and Informix drivers not only handle the ODBC level processing, they are also wire protocol drivers which means that they manage the sending and receiving of network packets between client workstations and database servers. This eliminates the need for you to install additional database communications software on each client workstation (as is required when using BDE SQL Links drivers).
