An ActiveX component is a placeholder for an ActiveX control. After you have the placeholder on the design surface, do the following:

Set the width and height properties to match the width and height definitions in the ActiveX code.

Click the wrench tool beside the classId property, select an ActiveX from those installed on your machine, and choose OK. This enters the ID of the ActiveX into the classId property text box.
