image\GRIDBUTTON.gif The Grid component is similar to the Browse component, but it offers a greater degree of programming control.

When the user first enters the Grid, it is in navigation mode, where all navigation keys provide movement among cells. When any other key is pressed, the Grid enters edit mode.

The Grid responds to built-in dBASE Plus Table Run controls like the navigation buttons, Add Row, and so on, and their keyboard equivalents, but the Grid component itself has no keyboard interface to move to the first or last row. The keyboard method that is implemented in the Grid component for adding a new row is to press the Down arrow while positioned on the last row. It is important to understand which keys are implemented in the built-in dBASE Plus menus and which keys are implemented in the Grid component itself, so there is no confusion when working with menus you create yourself.
