Create a user security profile for each user including the individual’s login information (login name, group name, and password) and a user access level for tables that support it (such as dBASE). Use the same dialog box to edit the security profile for a currently authorized user.

After you have entered all these settings, click OK to save the new user profile.

Dialog box options

User

Enter the user login name, according to your system conventions. REQUIRED.

Group

Enter the user’s group name, such as "Marketing." You will probably assign each group access privileges to specific tables. The user may belong to more than one group but must use a separate, non-simultaneous login for each group. REQUIRED.

Password

Enter the user’s password. REQUIRED.

Access level

Enter a number from 1 to 8 to set the user’s access levels for dBASE tables for which you have setup a table-access and field-access privilege scheme. 1 provides the greatest access; 8 is the most restrictive. REQUIRED.

Full name

Enter the new user’s full name. The full name is not used in the login procedure. Alphabetic characters you enter in the Full Name field are not converted to uppercase. OPTIONAL.

How to get there: Choose File|Database Administration. Click Security. Enter the administrator password. In the Security dialog box, click the User tab. Click New.
