Administrator Password dialog box

Enter your database administrator password to set up login security that may apply to databases or tables or dBASE Plus itself. This area is protected by an administrator login dialog box.

The first time you use this dialog box, you are establishing an administrator password and you are prompted to confirm the password. Asterisks appear in the text-entry field as you type. Click OK.

Thereafter, when you enter the password the Security dialog box appears enabling you to set access levels for users and tables.

Once established, the security system can be changed only if the administrator password is supplied. Keep a hard copy of this password in a secure place. There is no way to retrieve this password from the system.

WARNING: Make sure the option When Loading dBASE Plus (on the Enforcement page of the Security dialog box) is unchecked; otherwise on restart, you will be required to enter a user name and group name, even if you have set none, effectively locking you out of dBASE Plus.)

How to get there: Choose File|Database Administration, then choose Security in the Database Administration dialog box or run the PROTECT command from the Command Window.
