Vestal, NY (April 2, 2012) – Michael J. Rozlog, a 20-year software and technology industry veteran, has been named president and chief executive officer of dBase LLC, a provider of business intelligence software products and data management tools.

dBase, LLC is a new company created by a group of investors, experienced technology and business leaders, and dataBased Intelligence, Inc. (dBI), a privately held company that is the legal heir to dBASE™, the world’s first widely used relational database management system and one of the best-selling software titles of its time.

“We are absolutely delighted to have Mike Rozlog take on the leadership of this exciting new company,” said Donald Franck, chairman of dBase. “We are confident that Mike’s experience and sterling reputation in the software industry, and his track record of success in enhancing product lines, developing new products, and driving long-term success will ensure we achieve our vision for dBase–creating a new generation of superior products for our customers.”

The new dBase organization will continue to market and support dBI’s product portfolio—dBASE™, dQuery™ and dbEverywhere. In addition to new versions of these products, which will include advanced features and capabilities, dBase will bring to market business intelligence products and other software tools designed to help smalland medium-sized businesses be more productive and market competitive. Rozlog, a graduate of DeVry Institute of Technology in Columbus, Ohio, recently held senior-level product and marketing positions at Embarcadero Technologies, Inc., a global provider of advanced software tools for application developers and database professionals.2

Prior to that, he was vice president of products at Convenos, LLC a provider of online tools for Web-based collaboration and conferencing.

Rozlog was also chief technical architect at Borland Software Corporation, one of the most storied names in the history of the PC software revolution and the company that popularized dBASE™ as the world’s most accepted database standard.

The product dBASE™ was created in 1981 by the founders of Ashton-Tate, a company that grew from a small garage-based team to a multinational corporation. In 1991, dBI was formed to continue development and support of dBASE™. Today, dBASE™ is used by millions of software developers and others in FORTUNE 1000 companies and government agencies worldwide.

dBase will also continue to develop, market and support dQuery™ and dbEverywhere™. dQuery™ is a software solution that connects in real-time the 12 most popular database products on the market today. dQuery™ enables users to solve critical and often time-sensitive business decisions without having an IT department create custom programs or reports. dbEverywhere is a simple-to-use, Wizard-based product that enables users to create interactive data-driven Web sites.

dbEverywhere automatically generates an industry-standard framework that is based on the leading LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) approach. This allows Web site creators to focus on design, rather than software code, saving 80 percent of the time required to build today’s Web sites. dbEverywhere also installs a complete “mini-internet” on the desktop, including all the tools needed to develop, test, debug and run the pages and applications you create, without leaving the Wizard.
